should i take a weightloss suppliment?

My friends, I want to give you a piece of professional advice as a functional fitness coach and intuitive eater. I know our society pushes weight loss above all else even above actually caring for your health. I know this because weight loss supplements are starting to come back via injections at an alarming rate.... And this is breaking my heart to see so many people feeling that tug back towards weight loss over just taking care of their body and their health.

With more and more people now taking ozempic injection (ozempic is an incretin mimetic that helps the pancreas release the right amount of insulin when blood sugar is high. This helps stabilize blood sugar fluctuations that can impact energy and hunger levels.) to lose weight, I want to share some information.

One- ozempic works by suppressing your appetite so when you stop taking this medication you will gain your weight back! Imagine if we talked about other basic human needs the way we talk about food ...

"Ugh I was so bad today. I drank water even though I wasn't thirsty"

"Trying to be good this week so I'm cutting back on sleep"

"I'm so proud. I had such good willpower today. I went almost all day without peeing"

Our bodies are incredible at keeping us alive and well. They pick up on internal and external cues to let us know what to do to keep us safe. Most of the time we listen to these cues without giving them a second thought when it comes to hunger, however, it's a different story. Diet culture has taught us to distrust this cue to hold off just a little longer. Anything to avoid eating too much. All this does is break communication and trust with our bodies eventually leading us to ignore fullness cues, when we inevitably start eating again, your hunger is not lying to you. It is time to tune in and to trust your body.

This is just another form of forced starvation ie diet. And if you've ever been on a diet before, let me just ask you. Have you gained the weight back? This is something we want to consider.

Two- our bodies work the same so there is only one way to truly care for your health. And that is eating a nutrient dense diet, meaning lots of whole foods, and working out consistently.

As a functional fitness coach, here's my recommendation:
You need to be doing strength training at a minimum 3 days a week. Add in another 2 days of Mind Body exercise. This could be Yoga, Pilates Barre or Sculpt. And lastly aim to get about 10,000 steps a day.

One of the biggest advocates we can have for weight management is by not remaining sedentary. We don't need to be doing injections or fancy different new age workouts. All we need to do is to make sure that we're taking care of our health in a natural and supportive way.

If we start moving a little bit more and sitting a little bit less, we will not have to be injecting ourselves with chemicals or trying new things just to keep up with weight loss and health.

This has been the standard of health for many years. We don't need to come up with anything new. Just keep lifting weights, doing mobility/stability work with pilates, and get steps all day! We got this! Let's get really healthy in 2025 and focus more on taking care of our body and our mind then on trying to lose parts of it. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•
